Dear colleagues and linguistic mediators,

I am pleased to invite you all to participate in INTERPRETA 2007, which will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on July 28 and 29, 2007. The beautiful city of Buenos Aires will serve as the perfect setting for the meeting, which aims to promote interpreters profession and understanding of their work, to increase networking, and to provide visibility to the “quiet” but crucial role we play in many scenarios.

Some of the thematic spheres included in the program are: the role of the interpreter, community interpreting, interpreting at international organizations, training opportunities in Argentina, mentoring, medical interpreting, sales of interpreting services, court interpreting, mediation or interpreting, and skills levels determination by peers, among others.

The Conference is dedicated toEmilio Stevanovitch, Ana Braun and Lily McDonough, mentors of many.
